Covid-19 has changed many aspects of our lives in the last few months including a change in listening habits in the USA. According to Edison Research and their Share of Ear® subscription survey services, there has been an increase over the last 6 years in listening on streaming devices. In May 2020, during the Covid-19 quarantine period, listeners via streaming devices reached a new high of 10%.
Prior to Covid-19, listeners might typically use in-car radio receivers but, during May, the location of the listener moved to in-home where the use of radio receivers is decreasing.
The research also highlighted that people preferred to listen to spoken word programmes such as public radio, talk shows, news and sports from a streaming device.
